Macey's Tailgate Party

Last Friday we went to the Macey's Tailgate Party for the BYU football game the following day. We had a great time.

We all loaded up on the free stuff. Here is an example...a picture of Taylor chugging free chocolate milk and narfing (yes, I said narfing) down a free bag of chips. I thought the kids would have belly aches after all the junk food.
Dave missed this throw, but redeemed himself by making the next shot. He won a little bag of goodies. If we had been there earlier he would have received a t-shirt. Oh well. Nice job anyway Dave!

We almost lost Derek before this shot. The employee allowed too many kids on this inflatable slide. The weight of the children overloaded the airpump and the slide started to deflate. All the kids were at the top of the slide and Derek was at the bottom of the pile. When the employee realized what was happening she had all the kids come down and there Derek surfaced finally. When he got down, he laughed and said "it felt like we were going to tip over!".
Taylor and Derek couldn't get enough of the fun and we loved that it was FREE. Well, we did pay a total of 80 cents for 4 hot dogs and 4 bottled waters. Pretty sweet deal.

An Unbelievable Week

I just have to share the awesome week we had. It just kept getting better and better each day. It started on MONDAY with our ultrasound where we found out that we are having a GIRL! Did I mention that already. :) A girl! A girl! Wahoo! Then on TUESDAY evening Dave's temporary license came in the mail, which allowed him to begin working!! About time! :) WEDNESDAY was a great day thanks to my sister and her husband. They watched the kids for 4 and a half hours while we attended the temple and went out to dinner (using a gift card, which made it taste even better...thanks Spencer and Allie!). Mmmm....Olive Garden. It was so great to be in the temple again. It had been way too long. So Dave started work on THURSDAY...yippee! After work we raced home to see if his boards results had posted yet and he....PASSED!!! Which means he has full license to work and keep his job!!! We are so super excited!! What a relief! Thanks to all those that added him in your prayers. FRIDAY was a fun family night. The local grocery store held a tailgate party for the BYU football game. They had all sorts of fun activities for the kids and free soda, chips, ice cream, and scones. I'll post more about it later. But the kids had a blast and it cost a whole 80 cents! Nice. So SATURDAY was another great. I was outside minding my own business, when my neighbor came outside and asked if we wanted two tickets to the BYU football game that started in like 5 minutes. Dave and I snatched them up and dumped off our kids (again, thanks Stephanie). We arrived at half time and found out we had great seats! We were half way up and at the 50 yard line, in the chairs, not even the benches. They were $55 seats. Anyway, we had a great time...especially since BYU killed Air Force 31-6. So just when I'm thinking our great streak should be over...nope. TODAY we went to our Stake Conference and Elder L. Tom Perry was a speaker. We waited after the session and we each had a chance to shake his hand. What an amazing experience! I felt the spirit so strongly to be in his presence. Awesome. (He's a lot taller than I would have thought.) So that's the summary of our great week! I hope you all have a great upcoming one!!

We Had Our Ultrasound Today!!

Well, 63% of those that voted in our baby gender poll were right....WE ARE HAVING A GIRL!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!! I was among those that are wrong. I thought for sure it was a boy. We couldn't be happier!!! In fact I cried when the tech told us it was a girl. It was a mixture of bawling and laughing. The tech found a good shot of the legs open and said "well, you have two boys so you know what it should look like right?" Dave and I both thought she was saying that it was another boy and that we should be recognizing something by now. But then she continued and said "so it looks pretty different doesn't it?" That's when my crying began. :)

Derek has been saying all day "I can't believe I have a sister". Taylor doesn't quite get it. He told me that he's just worried because "she'll hit me and take my toys". Well, he's right, so what do you say to that? :) I just feel so blessed and appreciate all your love and excitement for us. Now I'll need your help in raising a girl! Someone please teach me how to braid hair. :)

Tay Tay on Wheels

Taylor finally discovered that he can ride a "real" bike! Too bad it's the neighbor GIRL'S bike. Ha ha. :) He loves this bike that can make him go "faster, faster".

Apparently the closer he gets to the handlebars the faster he goes.

Jake's Big Day!

Jacob was nervous but also excited to enter the MTC. He'll be a great missionary and will definitely bless the lives of so many!

The future missionary. Hey, Derek could enter the MTC exactly 14 years from this day. Derek and Jacob's birthdays are one day apart.
I felt bad for all the poor moms saying goodbye to their sons. I almost cried several times thinking about the day that I'll send my boys off. If I thought Kindergarten was bad, I can't imagine what saying goodbye for the mission will be like.

I almost lost Dave through this process of taking Jacob to the MTC. Dave wanted to take Jake's tag and run. I don't know how I would have felt about that. :) He would serve again in a heartbeat.

Good luck Jacob! We'll miss you.

Jacob's Visit to Utah

We were lucky enough to have Dave's brother, Jacob, stay with us for few days. He flew out on Monday from California to enter the MTC on Wednesday. He'll be serving in the Lima Peru North Spanish speaking Mission.

Janene and Devin gave him this smashing sweater straight from Peru. Derek and Taylor had a blast playing with their uncle!!
