Derek: down 1
Sunday was a big day for Derek. He "lost" his first tooth! It had been loose for over a week and he wouldn't let me pull it. It drove me crazy watching it flap when he talked. It brought back memories of my mom begging to pull our teeth. I understand her feelings now. :)
Well, on Sunday Dave gave Derek a choice to either let him clip his toenails or pull out his tooth. You should all know by now how much Derek hates his nails being clipped. Derek said "well, I get money for my tooth, so I pick the tooth". Dave used a napkin to grab it and he said that it came out without pressure.
The tooth fairy left him $.36 that night. What a random tooth fairy! :) She also forgot to take the tooth, but we just explained to Derek that she is new at coming to our house. Derek figured she left it so that he could take it to show and tell. Smart kid. Here's Derek and his new smile.
How much does the tooth fairy leave at your house?

I hate it kids just grow up way to fast!!
The tooth fairy is a little random here, too. However, the regular amount hovers around a dollar. The great thing is that when they first start losing teeth (most of my kids start in Kindergarten) they aren't really good at counting money. So whatever, amount you leave is fantastic. The bad thing is that as they finish losing teeth, they are WELL aware how much money is being left and expect it to be the same each time. My older ones have pretty much figured the "tooth fairy" out, but I am hoping they won't spoil it for the others. My 5 year old is on the verge of losing her first tooth. I can't believe it!
Hmm, so the Tooth Fairy visits your house, but not Santa - don't get it. A tooth-obsessed flying lady sounds a little more far fetched than a nice, fat man in a sleigh delivering toys.
But, the Tooth Fairy comes to our house, too, even though the boys have a strong hunch that it's just Dad. But, we tell them that once you stop believing, you stop getting money. So, they don't talk about it anymore.
Our Tooth Fairy used to give a quarter, but when Dallin traumatically had some teeth pulled, the Tooth Fairy felt sorry for him and gave him a dollar. Now, it seems to be standard. So, be careful to keep the amount as low as you are able to maintain. Once you up the ante, you have to keep it there.
Stephanie, I just knew you were going to say something about Santa. I just knew it!
What!!!! Santa doesn't come to your house? Gotta explain that one!
Anyway, I'm with Stephanie on the "keeping it low". We made the mistake once with 2 dollars for some reason I can't remember and that's where it has stayed. Pretty hard for someone who never carries cash 'cuz they always seem to lose teeth right before bedtime.
Nicole had a friend who got a new DVD for every tooth, so watch out for those people!
My little sunbeam lost his first tooth?!? Oh my goodness, he really is growing up!! I'll always remember him as my little sunbeam however!! :)
This was a cute post, and I love the picture with Derek and his change!
Once the toothfairy left me a Big 10 dollar bill under my pillow! I woke up STOKED of course, cause I was use to a buck, and when I showed my Dad he said, oh boy that tooth fairy must've been really tired when she brough you your $$ while looking at my mom!! I knew it all along!! LOL!!
I was going to ask about the Santa thing as well. Just remember, you either lie to your kids or you teach your kids to lie to other kids.
