I'd like to think that I am a genius. McKenna loves combing my wet hair after a shower, so I bought her a hair tool play kit (blow dryer, brush, curling iron, etc.). And with no sisters to use it on that means I get more hair-playing time on me!! Whahoo!
We love our sweet McKenna. She is still a little Mommy to her brothers, so good with little Ryan, but she can definitely be heard when they bug her. She loves to dress up, dance, sing, and play with her princess polly pockets, but loves a good wrestle or pillow fight with her brothers and Daddy.
Happy Birthday, McKenna! We love you!!

Cute cake! I especially like how you piped icing onto the actual Barbie for continuity. Nice touch.
I should be a better mom and do fancy cakes for my kids. They've come to expect the standard, 2-layer dealie from me, though. So why raise the bar?
I had actually planned to pipe the frosting on anyway, but I thought it was funny that McKenna asked me to "make her modest". Love it!!
What did you bake that cake in? A stainless-steel bowl? Or do you have a special pan? And do you just ram Barbie's legs into the cake and hope for the best, or do you hollow it out?
Can you tell I'm a Barbie cake novice?
I baked the dome layer in a Pyrex bowl and the other layers are just regular round pans. I did cut a hole in the middle of each layer for her legs. Craft stores have dolls that are legless, but I thought this way she'd have a doll to play with that wasn't a freak. They do have special pans for doll cakes, but this worked just fine. Google it if you are going to make one. There are a lot of how-to videos and picture ideas.
I started off making special cakes for my boys, but something happened - not sure what - and now they just want regular cakes. Hmm. Maybe I should take a hint. Jayden even requested a PIE for his birthday this year.
Oh now I see what she was talking about--the doll with the blue dress...and the dress was an actual cake! Nice!! Happy Bday little princess
