"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly." - Pres. Thomas Monson

Ry-Guy Turns One!!

What a fast year! It seemed like yesterday that I was 9 months pregnant trying to enjoy the 4th of July and all it's festivities and heat! And now Ryan is one year old, already. He has been a high maintenance, yet sweet baby. Derek likes to ask which baby was harder... him or Ry-Guy and I answer that Derek was the hardest for the first 6 months, but Ryan has been hard (but not as hard) for longer. He has always wanted to be held AT ALL TIMES, spit up a lot, and started sleeping through the night at 8 months instead of 6 weeks like my other babies. But he is a sweet angel and a little ham too! All the challenges he brings are worth it!

One of his nicknames is "Monkey Face", so I thought it would be fitting to make him a monkey face cake. We actually thought the cake resembled him especially once he smothered himself with brown frosting. (See below pictures.)

Okay, notice Dave in the background. Too funny! Can't leave a baby on a table without supervision.

We let our babies dig in their first birthday cake. He was hesitant at first but soon got to digging.

See...he's a monkey face!!

After cake it was on to presents! He was a spoiled little guy by his aunts, uncles, and grandparents!

Little Ry-Guy, Bubbers, Monkey Face, Bubba, or Smubbers is one fun baby! He gives the tightest hugs and loves the attention we shower on him. His brothers and sister adore him! He is definitely the star! We love our sweet baby! Happy Birthday, Buddy.

The youngest does always seem to be the "ham". And, you're right - he did resemble his cake after digging in. I'm proud of him for gettin' in there. My babies were always too timid. Happy (late) birthday, Ry-Guy!

Wait....did I miss something? When was Ryan's birthday? I had to go check the calendar. How mean of you. It's not nice to fool with Mother Eddington! Posting birthdays 3 months late is breaking the rules! I did send a present, right? Cute pictures anyway.

Love, Mom
