Scenery from Zion
I just know my kids will have memories of waiting and waiting for mom to take pictures on vacation....but I don't care! However, in order to ease Derek's grumpiness I did give him the camera and let him take some pictures. He loved it and it improved his mood. (I didn't post any of his shots.) So maybe he'll share in my love for photography and the rest of the family can wait for the two of us. :)

I know - don't you always have to have a person in the picture? Mom got so bored looking at scenery shots her father took, so she adopted this policy and pretty much drilled it into our heads. But, it seems that has gone out the window, now, hasn't it?
I struggle with this too, Steph! Thanks to Mom, I feel that a picture is worthless unless a person is in it. And when I did G-pa's life history, I sorted through hundreds of scenery shots! And what did I do with them? Nothing. They're not framed and on the wall; they're not in his history book. Because no one was in the shot. I have no idea what to do with my scenery shots now.
Oh and Nat: I am getting the same complaining from my kids when I stop to take pictures. Maddie has even started yelling at me, "No more pictures, MOM!" I figure I can wear them down. ;)
Beautiful pictures, BTW. I love the fence shot. I love old, rustic wooden fences. What fun they are to photograph. Even if no one is in the picture.
Ah, but it's my dream to have a "gallery wall" full of nature-only shots. I will frame my favorites one day, even if I am the only one that enjoys them.
I love the picture of the shooting star. Can't help it. I have always loved wildflowers and can even name a few. I have a collection of photos I've wanted to turn into a book of Granite Bay wildflowers inviting anyone in the community to contribute (and thus share the cost?). But, I love your family pictures more. Love, Grandma Judy
