"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly." - Pres. Thomas Monson

Derek's 9th Birthday

I rarely throw friend parties for my kids, but I gave them the option this year and Derek jumped on it. We decided on a movie-themed party. I gathered supplies from party stores and made an at-home movie theater.
Each child chose a candy, popcorn, and drink and followed the lights down to our basement storage room.
Wendy's was kind enough to donate the cups. I went through the drive thru and asked for 12 empty cups. I'm sure it gave them a laugh, but hey, I wanted the cups! My sister added the cute labels.

It looks ghetto, but it worked great. I borrowed a projector and used a blank wall in our dark, non-window room. It made a great theater for Megamind. And I'm telling you it was wonderful! The kids were contained, quiet, and happy and my sister and I sat upstairs chatting. Now that is my kind of party. :)

After the movie Derek opened presents and the kids ate cake in the backyard.

My sister found these pretend popcorn snacks for the top of our cupcakes.

Derek's aunt, Lindsay, and her fiance, Bracken, showed up with presents! He was a spoiled boy.

Later in the evening Derek opened more presents from family. It was a fun day! I can't believe how fast they grow. I love you, Derek!

That WAS a good party. I've shared the idea with a few people, telling them all the fun things you did. We've also discovered that we actually like those corn pops as a snack. Hmm.

Derek is so pretty and so beautiful in this picture he sends shivers up and down my spine whenever I look at him. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g-BwH_eb1oI/T01GJ0UrPII/AAAAAAAAEGU/o8bysYTjytk/s0/069.JPG I have this picture on display life size in one of my large format digital picture displays in the main living area of my home and my bedroom. I just love being able to walk up to him and spend a few minutes kissing that beautiful face, and his mouth and lips, whenever I want. When I walk into the room and see him life size he looks just stunning!
