"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly." - Pres. Thomas Monson

Derek's 12th Birthday!!

This was a special birthday for Derek. He turned twelve on a Sunday, which meant he also received the priesthood on his actual birthday. He was so excited for this day. However, all summer he complained that it's no fun looking forward to his birthday because it means he's also back in school. I see his point. We are so proud of Derek. He really has life figured out. He knows right from wrong and tries to do what is best. He is obsessed with football and all things BYU. Derek has the greatest sense of humor and so fun to chat with. We love you, Derek! Happy birthday!!

 Oh my goodness...he's so handsome!
Grandma and Grandpa Eddington were able to attend our church to witness (and participate in) Derek receiving the Aaronic Priesthood. Derek is so excited to be done with Primary...those last years are hard on the older kids.
Seriously...where does Derek get his silliness from? Hmmm....
 My handsome men...ready to serve.

Ryan ran inside and put on his suit so I'd take his picture. He wasn't too happy about the photobomber. But he quickly got over it and it became a photobomber photoshoot. Oh I was laughing so hard!!

Derek requested steak for his birthday dinner...so we delivered. Can we say spoiled? :) Next came cake and presents. We invited the Utah County crowd for Derek's request...Texas Sheetcake. Mmmm....
More awesome photobombing brought to you by cousin Landon.

And even more brought to you by McKenna...seemed to be the theme for the night. They even watched the "Photobombing 101" skit by Studio C.

Oh this was a great present. A temple worker that my mom serves with at the Bountiful Temple made this for Derek... A BYU tissue cover. It's amazing! :)

Ryan made a special birthday card for Derek.

It was a fun busy day. I hope it lived up to his expectations. Next up...a teenager!! I'm looking forward to it.

What a beautiful, fun family! The BYU tissue box is a great idea. My boys are football and BYU fanatics as well... looking forward to hosting a BYU birthday party for the big game tonight. It's neat to see boys looking so grown up in their suits as they start fulfilling their priesthood responsibilities, but it sure makes me feel old :)

12? Seriously?! That makes me feel OLD! I'm pretty sure Derek was 5 when I taught him in primary. It doesn't seem real that he's 12 already! Thanks for an update. You all look great and so happy! Happy birthday to Derek!

How awful am I? Why didn't I leave a comment on this great post? I loved revisiting a fun day. Thanks for renewing those memories. (And it's great to see a before picture of your kitchen. It makes your new kitchen even more awesome.)

Love, Mom

Derek is a lot more than handsome. He is absolutely beautiful and his good looks just knock my socks off! https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pwiQMud6kDI/VAoVV1YnIRI/AAAAAAAAE7Q/_fwjfc3gSgc/s0/101-1-2.jpg I put this picture on display life size in the main living area of my home and my bedroom in one of my large digital picture displays. I love Derek because the picture is so clear and sharp when I walk up to look at and admire this gorgeous little beauty he appears to be directly in front of me looking at me and smiling! He actually looks like I can lean close and kiss him! Needless to say Derek gets kissed a lot. The display is warm and silkly smooth so it seems like I am really kissing him, which is exhilarating and lots of fun, and very relaxing as well, especially in the privacy of my home after a long hard day.
