"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly." - Pres. Thomas Monson

Going to the Hukilau

Friday, May 22nd was Derek's school dance festival. The first-graders did a fine interpretation of the song "Going to the Hukilau". He did such a great job. And I was happy to see that he got up this time. Last year he thought dancing "was too girly" and reluctantly got up to dance. What a cute Hawaiian dude.

School is now out for the Summer Break. I can't believe Derek will be in Second Grade! It feels like yesterday that I dropped him off to Kindergarten for the first time. And my little Taylor will be that Kindergartner this year! Sob..sob!!

After the festival we went to pick up the truck and moving day began. It was a long day. My dad came up in the morning and helped Dave and I move most of the apartment. A few neighbors came out to help us unload into our new place, which was a big help. My mom drove down after her school let out and packed the random leftovers (my least favorite part). Janene kindly came by and worked on the cleaning. Leon came over after work and Stephanie watched my kids all day until late in the evening. We appreciate all the help!! No one likes moving, so it truly was a sacrifice!

What a cute hula guy! :)

I am jealous of your moving day. Sure, I had homeless men who packed up my whole house and loaded up the truck. But I would have MUCH preferred the help of family. :( Tell me again why I live so far away?

Laurel you are so funny!! But I agree, there is nothing like having family move you. . .even if you do only have to point your finger for where to have the put the stuff with movers. I'll take sitting tired out on the lawn with the family any day. We are so glad there is SOMEONE there to help you guys although surely you could have done better with Scott and Doug's amazing strength and Laurel and my crying children ha ha ha :). Congratulations!

One more thing for this "much to long post". . .I remember my Elementary school luau Derek!! We did the hukilau dance and everthing, I still remember the dress I wore and the short boy I had to dance with!! Fun days for you :) even though it was more fun for a girl to dress up in the Hawaiian garb. . .I see now it's not so manly, you're right Derek.
