"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly." - Pres. Thomas Monson

DEREK'S A WINNER!!!

It's Red Ribbon Week at Derek's elementary school. Each child was given a red bracelet to wear all week long. If the child's name was drawn and was found wearing their bracelet, then they would receive a prize. Derek was so sure that he was going to win. Well, today he came running out of his classroom and yelled to me "I won a prize! It's in my backpack!"
He later told me that his name was announced over the speaker in his class and a "big kid walked me to the office". He chose this pencil and bookmark. It's fun watching how excited kids get over the little things in life. (Hey, I remember how excited I was to win a bright yellow Farmington Elementary Roadrunners t-shirt for guessing how many candies were in the jar.) This is a very fun stage!

(He made sure I took a picture of both sides of the bookmark.)

Some Recent Photos

Here's a couple photos of the boys from last Sunday.
Such cute little boys!!
Ok, so I've had a few requests for a "belly shot", so here you go. My mom would actually like a "belly meter" on this blog. This is as close as she's going to get. I figure I'd allow a photo taken of me while the belly is still "cute". Anyway, I was embarassed to pose for a picture alone, so I'm pulling a funny face, but then, no one should be looking at my face...just the belly anyway, right? :)

Okay, so as you can hear, I've added music to our blog. If you don't want to enjoy our music selections please feel free to scroll down and click on the pause button. I get tired of the music myself and have used that pause button on occasion. Oh, and I take requests. :) Thanks again for looking at our blog!!

(P.S. I'm pretty sure our little girl is a fan of Tim McGraw, because man was she moving like crazy while I was going through his music clips. He he he.)

Apple Picking at Great Grandma's House

Every year we get to help my Grandma pick apples from the trees in her backyard. We've missed the past two years due to the fact that we've been in Pennsylvania. We were so excited to get to go to Logan, Utah again this year and let our kids have some fun.
mmm...fresh from the tree.
Dave didn't demonstrate his tree climbing skills this year. Too bad.

Grandma ends up with tons of apples. This is a picture of Derek and Taylor with their cousins before the trailer reached it's full capacity. There were enough apples to fill the bottom row and another on top. Not to mention all the apples us pickers took. All the apples in the trailer go to the press to become juice. You can never go back to store bought juice once you've tasted the real stuff.

Man Vs Wild

There we were, crickey, all alone on the trecherous mountain known as "Y" top volcano...just me, and two of me best mates, Derek and Taylor. We rose through the thicket as a light drizzle came pouring down.

Once on top of the "Y" the boys were a little nervous at the steepness, but loved the view of the valley.

We snacked on granola bars and filled our warm bellies with the cool liquor that we like to call, "water."

As we decended upon the face of the "Y" symbol, Derek's fear peaked and tears of no not joy, but rather terror bellowed out of his lacrimal glands. We made it to the end of our round trip hike with the boys walking the whole way themselves. It took us 40 minutes to go up and 20 minutes to come down. We avoided anyone passing us on the return leg...Watch out Bear Grylls we have a new TV troupe to compete with you!

I've Been Tagged

MY HUSBAND
What is his name? David (But I prefer "Dave". It sounds less stiff.)
How long have you been together? We've known each other for 7 years and 4 months.
How long did you date? A whopping 2 months! And engaged for 3 months! Hey, why wait when you know he's THE ONE!!

How old is he? 29 (Getting too close to 30 if you ask me. Yikes.)
Who eats more? It's a toss up these days. I probably eat more.
Who said I love you first? Ha ha. He did, and he was really disappointed when I answered "thank you".

Who is taller? Dave by 1/4 of an inch. But look out when I'm wearing heels!
Who sings better? Neither of us are that great, but at least I know the right words most of the time. :) Really, Dave has a good voice when he seriously tries.
Who is smarter? Dave...now that I've taught him all that he knows. :)

Whose temper is worse? It's a toss up.
Who does the laundry? I do, but Dave folds the clothes most of the time. (It's the only way he can find the bed under all the clean clothes.)
Who does the dishes? Me. I prefer it that way, cause I can pack a dishwasher tight!!
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I used to, but somehow Dave won it over.
Who pays the bills? Bills? What bills? Dave must do that I guess.
Who mows the lawn? Funny, we don't have a lawn, but Dave has mowed our apartment complex's lawn twice. I pull the weeds. :)
Who cooks dinner? Me.

Who drives when you are together? Dave, if we start the trip together, but me, if I am picking him up from work.
Who is more stubborn? I am. Poor Dave.
Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? Are you kidding!? I'm never wrong. ;)
Whose parents do you see the most? Mine. (Dave's live in California.)

Who kissed who first? Dave kissed me first, but I held his hand first.
Who asked who out? Dave asked me out. (Dave would contest that answer. For the record..running an errand to my sister's house WAS NOT A DATE.)

Who proposed? Dave (Five times, with four different rings. I said "yes" each time of course.)
Who is more sensitive? I am, especially with all these hormones raging. Although, he is very sensitive to my feelings and needs. He's an awesome husband!!

Who has more friends? I do. I have more free time to work at it. But Dave is my best friend.

Who wears the pants in the family? We are pretty equal, but I probably get my way more often. Again...poor Dave. I love you baby!!

So now I'm supposed to "tag" others to take a turn answering this survey through email or on their blog. I am tagging: Christa, Julie, Marie, Nicole, Laurel....and anyone else who wants to join in!

Macey's Tailgate Party

Last Friday we went to the Macey's Tailgate Party for the BYU football game the following day. We had a great time.
We all loaded up on the free stuff. Here is an example...a picture of Taylor chugging free chocolate milk and narfing (yes, I said narfing) down a free bag of chips. I thought the kids would have belly aches after all the junk food.
Dave missed this throw, but redeemed himself by making the next shot. He won a little bag of goodies. If we had been there earlier he would have received a t-shirt. Oh well. Nice job anyway Dave!
Derek inside the Moon Jump.
We almost lost Derek before this shot. The employee allowed too many kids on this inflatable slide. The weight of the children overloaded the airpump and the slide started to deflate. All the kids were at the top of the slide and Derek was at the bottom of the pile. When the employee realized what was happening she had all the kids come down and there Derek surfaced finally. When he got down, he laughed and said "it felt like we were going to tip over!".
Taylor and Derek couldn't get enough of the fun and we loved that it was FREE. Well, we did pay a total of 80 cents for 4 hot dogs and 4 bottled waters. Pretty sweet deal.

Here's some footage of Derek going through the obstacle course.

Listen for all of Taylor's karate sound effects. Taylor was hillarious with all his "whaah and hi-yahs".
