"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly." - Pres. Thomas Monson

Natalie did what?

You might remember THIS post from a couple months back. I was in search of suggestions on good books to read. Well, I did it! I finally read a book and not just one, but I've read two in one month. I am on a roll.

My first was "Rebecca" by Daphne du Maurier. It was a great book, but definitely not what I thought I was getting into....huge amount of suspense! I really related to the main character. I became very addicted to the book, but the ending left me a little irritated. (I won't say more and ruin it for anyone.)

And just tonight I finished reading "Austenland" by Shannon Hale. It took me about one-third of the book to really get into it (and get past some annoyances), but when I did...wow, I couldn't put it down. It would definitely make a good "chick flick" movie. It did describe two characters making out, which I didn't appreciate, but overall it was a fun read. And a great ending.

So, it turns out that I do enjoy reading. Sure these aren't really deep books, but they are a fun start. On to the next!...or maybe spend some time updating my blog...hmmm?

I read Rebecca with a book club and wasn't so happy about the ending either. We also read Princess Academy by Shannon Hale. It was a good book even though its geared for "youth." I like that kind of book because with all my kids running around I could never finish a really deep book - its too hard to concentrate. Some other great "easy" reads are Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke and Fire in (and?) the Covenant by Gerald Lund. Even Jared couldn't put them down and he wasn't a reader (until he married me and I converted him):)

fun! I am glad you found your "inner reader." I find that I have to read those gripping books or I loose interest...I just can't wait till it is my turn to read the new Dan Brown book :)

I, too, just finished reading "Austenland" and will have to admit that I had a hard time not rolling my eyes at first, but was drawn into the book as it got going.

You should try reading "A Girl Named Zippy" or "Dandelion Wine." Both are a bit nastalgic and I really enjoyed reading them. Also, "Keturah and Lord Death" is another good read - not what I had expected, but it had my attention.

I loved reading your post a couple months ago about books. I looked up some of those suggestions people gave you and ended up reading Austenland as well! Funny! I felt similar to you. Took me a while to get into it, then I was hooked, but also felt a little guilty spying on someone's make-out session. :(

Good for you, you reader! Hope you keep enjoying it!
