"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly." - Pres. Thomas Monson

The Brocks Rock the 4th

July 4, 21012

I love the 4th of July! It screams summertime, family, and childhood memories. Oh...and patriotism. :) Once again, we attended the Kaysville City parade with my sister, Laurel and her family. It felt very much like a walking advertisement. They need to ease off the amount of business entries. However, we were showered with candy!

After the parade we spent the day at my parents' sister's house. This was the first family function without my parents and I'll admit, it was harder than I thought. Out of habit, I expected to see my mom in the kitchen with a warm greeting, but nope...it was empty. :(  There was a hole in our party without them, but it was still a great day. We BBQed, swam, and talked.

Dave and a couple of my nephews made a "bridge".

McKenna and her cousin, Maddie. She LOVES that Maddie lives so close now.
This just cracked me up. Ryan found the sweet spot of the house. Do you think we had enough chips at our BBQ?
Later we watched the Davis High fireworks as a family. This is a great tradition that caps off a great day!

Dave and I made our own fireworks in the back row.  ;) He he he.

Oh my heavens, I love the picture of Steph and Leon with the fireworks beyond them. Great perspective and composition. I also love the bags of chips all around Ryan. Can you tell that Lays chips were "buy one get one" that week? Ha ha!

It's always a fun 4th of July with you guys!

Ryan cracks me up. He's in all the pictures...just a little shadow following the herd, yet doing his own thing. I miss the little twerp!

Love, Mom
